AIT & RFID Contracts

The Program Executive Office - Enterprise's Product Lead Logistics Information Systems (PL LIS) serves as the designated Acquisition Manager for Legacy Tactical Logistics & Transportation Information Systems. This encompasses Defense Business Systems and includes service and supply contracts for several key systems: • Standard Army Ammunition System (SAAS) • Radio Frequency-In-Transit Visibility (RF-ITV) • Transportation Coordinators' Automated Information for Movements System II (TC-AIMS II) • Property Book Unit Supply Enhanced (PBUSE) PL LIS currently manages three supply contracts focused on providing a comprehensive range of Automatic Identification Technology (AIT) solutions including: • Automatic Identification Technology (AIT) 6 – Hand Held Barcode Terminals and accessories, Barcode Imagers, Barcode Printers, and pRFID equipment • Active Radio Frequency Identification (aRFID) VI – aRFID PODs, • NGT-II – cellular, satellite, and hybrid transponders and accessories, data plans PL LIS supply contracts remain the primary source for AIT products and services for both the Army and the Department of Defense. Procurement through these contract vehicles does not require a SONA. According to a February 2008 Department of Army G4 memo regarding AIT Procurement, "All U.S. Army Organizations and activities will procure AIT products and services from PM J-AIT." Since 2008, this authority has transitioned from PM J-AIT to AMIS and is currently held by PL LIS.
